How do you begin to celebrate life….

How do you begin to celebrate the life of 100 years?

Well, let me tell you about our family icon, our shero. Well, affectionately call her “Aunt Mary.” Born May 6, 1923, Aunt Mary has always been a beacon of life, a prayer warrior, a gem of a woman. She is like that rare, priceless jewel, with the cut, quality, and clarity that lets you know she is uniquely special. She is a leader and a queen.

My earliest memories of Aunt Mary go back to elementary school and seeing this strong, independent, fierce woman who didn’t take any mess from anyone. She said what she meant what she said.

I remember Aunt Mary used to collect different stuff. I never knew why she had so much stuff in her house. But she had her reasons, and I would question her motives. You would get a piece of her mind.

I think about the magnitude of celebrating a centennial birthday, her stories, and her wisdom. She has seen the ugliness of racial segregation. Her eyes have seen the beauty of family members growing up and having their children. Words do not even adequately describe the love and appreciation I have and we have for her. She is a blessing to all who come across her path. So, on May 6, 2023, I salute a queen, warrior, and champion.

I want to say Happy 100th Birthday To Aunt Mary! I Love You So Much!
