Lie and Truth

When I was a young child, I was touched by the story of two brothers, "Lie and Truth." Sitting at my desk, taking a break from working on a writing assignment, I remember the story of Lie and Truth. Truth always dressed sharp. His clothes were of the latest fashion. Everything was always matching Truth. However, Lie was different. His clothes were always dirty, tattered, and worn out.
On a trip to the lake, the two brothers, Lie and Truth, decided to take a swim. Now keep in mind that Lie and Truth are country boys. It was common for country boys to swim without clothes. Truth takes off all his clothes, lays them in a neat pile, runs as fast as possible, and jumps into the lake. Lie then takes off his clothes. Curiosity gets the best of him when he looks at his brother's clothes. Instead of jumping in the lake, he wonders what it would feel like to be in his brother's clothes.
Lie slowly puts on his brother's clothes. Upon noticing his brother Lie with his clothes on, Truth screams at him to take off his clothes. Truth swims to the lake's edge, and Lie takes off running in Truth's clothes. Truth looks at his brother's clothes in disgust. He has no desire to be seen in his brother's clothes. Truth takes off running after his brother wearing nothing but his "birthday suit."

Lie runs as fast as he can up the town road. Truth is on his heels, chasing after him. Some young ladies are sitting on the porch enjoying a good conversation and see Lie running fast. The women yell, "mama, mama, come quickly. Come see this? Their mother hurries to the front porch and asks, what is all the screaming about. In unison, they say, "mama, who is those sharp-dressed men?" Their mother looked intensely through her glasses and looked at the sharp-dressed man.
Their mother says, baby, that there is a well-dressed-up lie! Quickly approaching to see Truth running with no clothes on. The girls ask, "mama, who is that man running with no clothes on?" Their mama said, "baby, that right there is the butt-naked truth?"

I sat at my desk and thought about how people live well-dressed up lies and not face the butt-naked truth. Telling the butt-naked truth means that you are connected to your essential self and your reality. It means that you look deeper than the surface explanation of your circumstances. Telling the truth means revealing what is sometimes unspeakable. Telling the truth means revealing what is sometimes unspeakable. Telling the truth is about being your authentic self and letting others experience it, regardless of their reaction.
"I learned while sitting at my desk always to tell my truth, and GOD doesn't make mistakes."
We must always tell our truth and live out our truth. Telling your truth isn't always easy, but it is important. What truth are you yet to tell about yourself? What well-dressed up lie have you told others?
